How to think about “apps vs wallets”

Many platforms provide both a trading app (custodial) and a separate non‑custodial wallet. The difference is simple: in a custodial account, the platform controls keys; in a non‑custodial wallet, you control keys.

Practical rule: Keep long‑term holdings in a wallet you control, and use exchanges for trading when needed.
